15 Amazing Queer Artists to Follow!

Recently, queer representation in the media has been at a record high. There's still a long way to go, but compared to the representation of the past, we have a record number of out queer influencers at the forefront of the industry.
Lachlan Watson (they/them)
Lachlan is one of the youngest self-identifying non-binary actors in Hollywood, and they have been open about the way they identify, and the challenges that queer people face. King Princess (she/her)
King Princess is a genderqueer musician known for her explicitly queer love songs, and relatable content. She stated in an interview with them. that she makes her art explicitly queer in order to help guide queer youth and mold the "new normal". Basit Shittu (Basit/Basit's or they/them)
Basit is one of the cast members of the newest season of a dating show called Are You The One?. All of the cast members on this season are sexually fluid. The cast also includes two non-binary people, including Basit. Basit is a stunning fashion icon, and also performs in drag as Dionne Slay in the New York area. 

Quintessa Swindell (they/them)
Quintessa is a non-binary actor who stars in Portland-filmed Netflix show Trinkets, and is quickly becoming a new star in the media. Quintessa speaks openly about their queer identity, and how it's guided them as a person and as an actor. They have been featured in articles from Glaad, and Oregon Live.

Left at London (she/her)
Left at London is a trans indie pop musician from Seattle, Washington. She uses music and lyric writing to abstractly and explicitly express different aspects of her life as a trans woman with autism, BPD, ADHD, and PTSD. You can find Left at London's music on all streaming platforms!

Bex Taylor-Klaus (they/them or any pronouns)
Bex Taylor-Klaus is a non-binary and trans-masculine actor who has been in over 10 major TV shows, and more than 8 major movies. Bex came out as gay in 2016 on twitter, then in 2018 came out as non-binary, stating that they have a preference for they/them pronouns but will accept any pronouns. Bex is open about their identity and often shares about that part of them on social media. You can find them in their most recent supporting role in the movie Dumplin' on Netflix.

Wolfgang X  (they/he)
Wolfgand X is a Portland drag performer with a very unique fashion sense, and one of the most visually entertaining aesthetics ever. Wolfgang is the founder of Wacky Tacky Inc., a drag production company in Portland that specializes in all things weird, wacky, and queer! Find Wolfgang X next at "Double D's: a Divine Vs. Indya Moore (they/them)
Indya Moore is a trans-feminine and non-binary actor and model who has worked in the entertainment industry for ten years, working with designers like Gucci, and Dior. They have also worked with dancer and choreographer Jose Gutierez Xtravaganza, who suggested that they pursue acting. Most recently, Indya is cast as one of the main roles in the FX series Pose, and in 2019, they became the first transgender person to be on the cover of Elle magazine. 

Kim Petras (she/her)
Kim Petras is a German musician who first gained popularity after the story of her gender transition became the subject of German and Worldwide news sites where she was pushing to be allowed to get "early" gender reassignment surgery, while in Germany it was typical to wait until 18 years of age to get these surgeries. In 2008, when Kim was 16, she announced that she had completed her gender reassignment surgeries. Kim just released her latest album Clarity in June 2019, and is set to release more music soon. MNEK (he/him)
MNEK is a british musician, lyricist, and producer who has worked with the likes of Little Mix, Dua Lipa, Beyonce, and Madonna. MNEK is openly gay and incorporates his queer identity in his music. MNEK most recently released his newest album Language, which you can find on all streaming platforms. 

L Devine (she/her)
L Devine is an English musician known for her poppy and explicitly queer lyrics. Her lyrics express themes such as anxiety, internalized homophobia, and being really, really horny! Her songs are relatable and catchy and this queer artist is quickly making a name for herself in the music scene. Find L Devine's music on all streaming platforms!

Mars (she/her)
Mars is a Portland drag performer and visual artist. Her monthly show Haute Glue happens every last Friday at Black Water bar in Portland, and features a mix of some of the best drag talent in the state. Mars has stated that Haute Glue is meant to be a space for artists to get into their art, and perform acts that other drag shows might not be as willing to feature. Lil Nas X (he/him)
Lil Nas X quickly became a household name because of his record breaking single Old Town Road and the countless remixes that he has subsequently released with many other popular artists including Mason Ramsay, Billy Ray Cyrus, and most recently teased a remix featuring Dolly Parton! He recently came out on the last day of pride month over twitter, where he stated that he thought he "made it obvious". Old Town Road has continued to be at number one on the charts for 15 weeks so far, almost breaking the record.

Eugene Lee Yang (he/him)
Eugene Lee Yang is a member of the Try Guys, a YouTube series that features five guys who try new things, prank each other, and, over all, have a lot of fun together. Eugene has stated that he was part of the queer community for several years, but only recently publicly stated that he identifies as gay, coming out with an incredible music video showing his personal story and things many queer people experience, growing up and coming out. 

Ian Alexander (he/him)
Ian Alexander is a trans actor who is probably best known for his role in Netflix's The OA. He has been featured in articles from them., Teen Vogue, ID, and The Trevor Project.
